Brett Murphy Named as Region 13 President of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas

Brett Murphy, Whitley Penn Audit Partner, has been elected as Region 13 President of The Leadership Division of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) for a second time.
“Being elected as the Region 13 President for a second time is a privilege that reinforces our continued commitment and support for the Texas banking industry,” stated Murphy. “I am looking forward to further building meaningful relationships and prioritizing Region 13’s mission of continued growth of strategic allies that share the same vision and passion as our community bankers and that understand how essential these banks are to our economy and local communities.”
Murphy has significant knowledge and experience working with financial institutions and financial services companies. Additionally, Murphy’s financial institution experience includes working with banks ranging from de novo to $4 billion, assisting with IPOs, acquisitions and FDICIA implementation. He has also worked with both publicly traded and privately held companies in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution & logistics, retail, infrastructure, and employee benefit plans.
Murphy is a member of the American Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Texas Bankers Association (TBA), the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA) and was recently elected to serve on the Leadership Division Board of Directors for the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT). Additionally, he serves on the board of directors for the Central Texas Chapter of the Risk Management Association (RMA).
Murphy earned his B.B.A. in accounting from Texas Tech University.
