Jake Morris has more than 14 years of experience in the accounting industry, including ten in public accounting and four as a controller. Jake’s experience includes CFO and controller support, full-scale outsourced accounting, and special projects.
He leads our Controllership and Interim Advisory team that focuses on assisting business owners, CFOs , and their teams with support for any internal accounting or financial needs that they have. He specializes in personnel and department management, month-end close procedures, financial statement presentation and analysis, and budgeting/forecasting. He excels at improving client relationships and is a highly skilled communicator who strives for maximum transparency between his team and the people they serve.
Before joining Whitley Penn, Jake served in corporate audit and then as a controller. In his role in corporate audit, he led audit teams in performing risk-based financial statement audits for public and private companies, as well as employee benefit plan audits. Working as a controller, Jake lead the accounting department of a $100 million professional services firm while also managing executive expectations to allow for a smooth and efficient operation of the accounting and finance functions at the firm.
