Joe Lavis Joins the Dallas Regional Chamber 2024 LEAD YP Class

Joe Lavis, Whitley Penn Tax Partner and Partner in Charge of the firm’s Dallas office, has been accepted to join the Dallas Regional Chamber’s (DRC) 2024 LEAD YP Class.
The DRC’s LEAD YP program is a six-month leadership development program designed to help young professionals gain a better understanding of their personal leadership styles and gain new insight on leading and inspiring others throughout their careers. Lavis will participate alongside approximately 50 classmates and peers who have been selected from across the Dallas area to participate in the LEAD YP program. Participants will meet monthly to receive training on their personal leadership styles, leading through change, personal branding, and coaching and feedback, all using the Predictive Index Behavior Assessment.

Lavis has significant experience advising clients on tax and advisory matters with a focus on partnerships, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals. He primarily works with private equity portfolio companies and middle market entities in the energy, real estate, manufacturing and distribution, retail, and professional services industries.
His experience also includes assisting public and private companies with the preparation and review of their annual tax returns and estimated payments, mergers and acquisitions, partnership targeted allocation considerations and calculations, start-up accounting, and other general tax consulting and accounting projects.
Lavis is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA). He is an Executive Challenge Member for the American Heart Association’s Dallas Heart Walk and is the current President for the Dallas Chapter of the Council of Petroleum Accountants Society (COPAS). Additionally, Lavis formerly served as a Board Member of the Junior Achievement of Dallas – Young Executive Society.
Lavis received his Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from Baylor University.
